Description This is an exploration of our seeming compulsion to improve upon the natural order of the universe. It is one room of a solo exhibition called “Fast Food, Hydrocarbons, and Waves in Outer Space”, Beyond the translucent orange threshold a Mylar-lined room reflects hyper-luminous sculptural towers surrounded by neon floor panels. These souped-up hydroponic towers grow tomatoes from seeds exposed in outer space by NASA. This is a real-time laboratory in which the growing environment is further optimized by a growth enhancing original sound track and special nutrients.
Materials NASA space exposed tomato seeds, water, steel, 1800 watts of florescent lights, 4000 watts of metal halide lights, timers, special nutrients, original frequency sound track, plastic, PVC and a lot more.
